Minor Ailment Assessments

Who it's for

Anyone with a common, uncomplicated condition who'd rather be seen today than wait days for a clinic appointment.

What’s included

  • A private one-on-one assessment with a licensed pharmacist — in our consultation room, not at the counter.
  • Care for 19 common conditions under Ontario’s publicly funded program, including pink eye, uncomplicated UTIs in women, cold sores, seasonal allergies, and skin irritations.
  • A clear plan before you leave — treatment where appropriate, self-care guidance, and honest advice about when a doctor visit is the better path.
  • A record for your family doctor — with your consent, we document the visit so your care team stays in the loop.

How it works

  1. Book online or walk in. Booking takes under a minute and includes a short note about what you’d like assessed — it helps us prepare.
  2. The assessment — 20–30 minutes with the pharmacist: symptoms, history, and an exam appropriate to the condition.
  3. Your plan — if the condition fits the program, we take care of it on the spot. If it doesn’t, we tell you exactly where to go instead.

What it costs

Free with OHIP. The provincial program covers the assessment for Ontario residents with a valid health card. Any recommended product is separate and depends on your coverage — we’ll quote it before you decide.

Frequently asked

Common questions about minor ailment assessments.

Which conditions can a pharmacist assess?
Ontario's program covers 19 common minor ailments, including pink eye, uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women, cold sores, seasonal allergies, insect bites and hives, mild acne, muscle aches, and heartburn. Not sure if yours qualifies? Call us and we'll tell you in a minute.
Does it cost anything?
The assessment is free for Ontario residents with a valid OHIP card. If a product or treatment is recommended, its cost depends on your drug plan — we'll always tell you before you commit.
Do I need to book, or can I walk in?
Both work. Booking online guarantees a private consult time; walk-ins are seen between other appointments.
What happens if my condition is outside the program?
We'll tell you straight away and point you to the right level of care — your family doctor, a walk-in clinic, or the ER if it's urgent. No charge for the conversation.
What should I bring?
Your OHIP card, a list of medications you currently take, and anything relevant to the condition (for example, a photo of a rash earlier in the week).
